Abstract: The results of studies of changes occurring during the formation of the so-called alginate masks during internal diffusion gelation are presented. The study was conducted for systems consisting of sodium alginate, diatomite (kaolin) with a curing system of calcium sulfate and sodium pyrophosphate. It was found that the use of physical methods of analysis, such as scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy with Fourier transform and rheological methods allow us to obtain data on the quality indicators of alginate masks and their composition, and the gelation mechanism. These data can be used in the preparation of regulatory technical documentation.
