Abstract: A comparative analysis of the mismatch between the mental models of users and the interface designer at the stage of
designing the navigation menu structure allows you to find out the reasons that reduce the effectiveness of interaction of field users
with the mobile application: incorrect grouping of menu items by categories, mutual arrangement of menu items. To measure the
similarity between a pair of navigation menu items, the Jacquard commonality coefficient is used. The article describes algorithms
that allow to generate all necessary information (binary matrices of mental models, similarity matrices for navigation menu items,
matrices of mental model mismatch) for quantitative assessment of mismatch between mental models of navigation menu structure.
The feasibility of using the proposed algorithms in the development of CASE-tools focused on designing and evaluating the quality
of user menus of software tools is justified.
