Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the fibrous materials sorption characteristics obtained as a result of thermoplastic
polymers melts spraying using a fiber-forming device of the ejector type, in relation to the main types of pollutants, such as watersoluble oil fractions and petroleum products. We used the methods of spectrophotometry, gravimetry and IR spectroscopy. The
relationship between the chemical nature, structure, dispersion composition and sorption capacity of fibrous materials has been
established. It was revealed that polypropylene materials containing more than a third of fibers with a diameter of less than 1.5
microns have a better sorption capacity in relation to water-soluble petroleum products. The expediency of using ultra-thin fibers in
the processes of purification of aqueous media from oil products is shown.
